Welcome to Heybridge Pre-School

Our Staff

The staff at Heybridge Pre-school are dedicated to achieving the best for your child. We are all Cache qualified and hold a current CRB check. We attend regular training courses on a variety of child related subjects and cascade the information received amongst ourselves.

Each member of staff acts as a key person to a number of children, building a special relationship with them throughout their time at pre-school, learning about them as a unique individual and planning a curriculum to meet each child’s needs and requirements, enabling them to progress through the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Meet the Team

Anne Read - Manager

Hello, my name is Anne and I am the manager of Heybridge Preschool. Have worked here for 15 years, becoming the manager in 2008. I hold a level 3 qualification in childcare, and attend frequent training courses throughout the year.

I enjoy working with small groups of children for example playing games, programming our robot or group work in creating a story.

My staff keep me away from creative projects as I have proven to be totally inept in this area! (don’t ever mention the Christmas angel!)

I live locally with my husband and 2 adult children. In what free time I get I enjoy cooking (especially to music) and time with my husband and family.

Jayne O'Hara

Hi! My name is Jayne and I am the deputy manager and SEN coordinator and have worked here since 2001. I hold a level 3 qualification in child care and attend many training courses throughout the year.

I work very closely with the families that I am involved with, assisting them achieve the help/guidance that they need from outside agencies, or working together to devise strategies to solve challenging behavioural issues.

I enjoy getting to know my key children and their families and helping them achieve their full potential. I am kept away from anything with a plug – I am a technodoof!
I live locally with my husband and 2 daughters I thoroughly enjoy family time, walking Barney and messing about in the river!

Debbie Whatley

Hello, my name is Debbie and I am a supervisor, planning and partnership with parents’ coordinator. I hold a level 3 qualification in childcare and also attend regular training courses through the year.

I am the voice behind the newsletters and the website, keeping you informed of the curriculum, topics and news.

I like gardening with the children, reading stories and big group games like; whats the time mr wolf? Keeper of the keys etc but I steer well clear of gloop activities as it sets my teeth on edge! I am also pretty smart at losing bits of paper, luckily my colleagues are very good at finding them!

I live locally with my husband and 2 sons, Saphy ( my dog)
In my spare time enjoy exploring the countryside with my husband and Saph (sometimes we are graced with the boys presence!),crafting, gardening and listening to music.

Debbie Franklin

Hello! I am Debbie. I hold a level 2 qualification in childcare. I live locally with my husband and 2 sons and our dog Alfie. In my free time I enjoy walking Alfie (plugged into my iPod), eating out and partying!

I am the mother hen of the setting, handing out hugs and cuddles to all who need it (parents included!). But keep me away from anything technological – I seem to kybosh them at 5 paces!

Tricia Staines

Hello, my name is Tricia and I hold a level 2 qualification in childcare at Heybridge Preschool. I have lived locally all my life. I live in Heybridge with, my son, Tallulah and Izzy(my dogs). In my spare time I love walking along the river with the dogs….and clothes shopping!

At preschool I am at my best working 1:1 with children, systematically working through their stepping stones. My colleagues are perfectly aware my worst nightmare is messy play…….or lots of children and messy play!

Gilly Baker

Hello, I am Gilly and my role is of supervisor and book keeper. I too hold a level 3 childcare qualification and also attend regular training courses throughout the year.

I enjoy extending children’s learning through role playing – often dressing up with various resources found lying around! I also like to tidy – but this often results in staff not being able to find anything!

I live locally with my husband, 2 children and William (our dog) . I love being outdoors, whether it is gardening or walking with William along the river and swimming in the sea!

Carol Sullivan

Carole was one of our parents a few years ago and volunteered here whilst completing her level 3 Cache qualification in childcare and education. She went on to work at Buddies gaining valuable experience which she is now sharing with us!

Carole enjoys cooking in her spare time (now she is with us will be hard to find so we will get her to do it here instead!), and socialising with her family.
